It's not just tech and money. It's their location. North America sits in a perfect location to control all trade routes.

...It's supposed to give them an upper hand military wise. A large economy itself does not define a superpower. Most significant is influence(culture and military), as well as force projection. Both of which BRIC doesn't have...and won't have for a while.

And lets say China gets to 1.5x of what the US is now, GDP wise. It would still take a HELL lot of time to catch up to us military-wise. Not to mention instability. Everytime China opens free trade to international market, rural regions stay extremely poor while the coastal east prosper faster beyond your imagination. This leads to instability...then turmoil....then possibly revolt. And China is essentially an island. Most of their population is on the east...and west terrain is impossible to traverse. They need a navy which they don't have.

The rest of BRIC is too far behind China for me to give a thought about it.

And the world economy is too dependent on the US market. I doubt anyone would overtake them for a large amount of time.

I suggest you read "The next 100 years - A forecast for the 21st century" by George Friedman(the guy who founded stratfor). It opens up to alot of new ideas.

Meh, the reason why America isn't the sole super power is beacause there are like 50 countries with the biological and nuclear weapons to end the world. if America was the only one capable of that, then yes they would be. I reckon in the next 100 years, some middle eastern country will launch some biological wepon that will turn the world into a living horror movie. I can't wait.
